Creating an app
Register a new app, name its Builder, and get the repository you push code to.
You need the manage_apps ability or the admin ability to create an app. If you open the
Create App page without one, it says "Creating an App requires the Manage Apps ability.
Ask an admin for access."
Create an app#
- Open Apps and select + Create App.
- Fill in the form:
- Name, for example "Rate Sheet Builder". It is required.
- Description, "What this App does, in a sentence or two."
- Builder, the person who builds and owns the app. If you are an administrator you can choose any person from the list ("As an admin, you can assign this App to any Builder."). Otherwise the field shows your own name: "You'll be the Builder for this App."
- Select Create App. Select ← Apps to leave without creating.
What you get#
You land on the new app's details page. The app starts in the Interview phase, so only its Builder and administrators can see it.
The app also gets its own code repository, already filled with a starter template. The Deployment section of the details page shows how to clone it. Pushing code to that repository builds and deploys your app. See Deploying your code.
