Deploying your code

Register an SSH key, clone your app's repository and push to build and deploy.

Every app has a code repository that is created for you with a starter template in it. You change the code on your own computer and push it to deploy.

Register your SSH key#

You push over git with an SSH key, so register your public key first.

  1. Open Settings in the top navigation. If you are an administrator, stay on the Personal tab.
  2. In the SSH Keys card, select Manage. The page is titled My SSH Keys.
  3. Select New key.
  4. Enter a Label, such as "my laptop", and paste your public key into Public key. Paste only the public half, never your private key.
  5. Select Register key.

The key list shows each key's Label, Fingerprint, Created date and Status (active or revoked). To stop a key from working, select Revoke on its row and confirm Revoke key. Revoked keys are tucked away behind Show revoked. Deploys pushed with a revoked key stop working immediately. You can register and revoke only your own keys. Administrators also see a Company SSH Keys list of everyone's keys for auditing.

Clone the starter code#

  1. Open your app's details page.
  2. In the Deployment section, under "Clone your App's starter code:", select Copy command. The button changes to Copied.
  3. Paste the git clone command into your terminal.

If the section says "No repository configured.", the app has no repository.

Push to deploy#

Commit your changes and push them back, for example with git push, to build and deploy the app. When it is running, an Open App button appears in the Deployment section. Until then the section says "No deployment configured."

After an app is retired#

When an app is retired, its running copy is stopped and Open App disappears. The repository and its clone command stay on the details page.
