The Coworker roster

How the roster works and which Coworkers you can see, depending on each Coworker's phase.

For: Any signed-in user · Last updated

The Coworkers page is your roster. It shows a card for every Coworker you are allowed to see, with its name, phase, role and practice area.

What you can do from the roster#

  • Select Chat on a card to start talking to that Coworker.
  • Select Details to open its details page. See Coworker details.
  • Select Hire a Coworker at the top to start the hiring wizard. This button only appears if you have the hire_coworkers ability or are an admin. See Hiring a Coworker.

Retired Coworkers are hidden by default. Tick Show retired Coworkers to include them; their cards appear dimmed.

Phases#

Every Coworker is in one of five phases, shown as a badge on its card: Interview, Internship, Apprenticeship, Full-Time or Sunset. A Coworker moves forward one phase at a time (see Advancing a Coworker and retiring it). The phase decides who can see it and chat with it.

Who sees which Coworker#

Phase Who can see it and chat with it
Interview Its Supervisor and admins.
Internship Its Supervisor, admins, and the people chosen as that phase's cohort.
Apprenticeship Its Supervisor, admins, and the people chosen as that phase's cohort.
Full-Time Everyone in the company. If a Coworker's access has been limited to certain Teams, only its Supervisor, admins and members of those Teams.
Sunset Everyone can see it, but nobody can chat with it.

A Coworker you cannot see does not appear on your roster at all. If a Coworker you expected is missing, it may be in an earlier phase, or limited to Teams you are not on. Ask its Supervisor.

A cohort belongs to one phase. When a Coworker moves from Internship to Apprenticeship, the Supervisor chooses the cohort again, so people who should keep access must be included.

Sunset Coworkers#

A retired Coworker keeps its history. Anyone can open its details page to see its lifecycle, reviews and spending, but chatting with it is closed with a message that it is retired.
