Creating a knowledge base
Add a knowledge base, choose its owner, and decide whether Coworkers can use it.
You need the manage_knowledge_bases ability or the admin ability to create a knowledge
base. Without one of them, the Add a knowledge base button does not appear.
Create one#
- Open Knowledge Bases and select Add a knowledge base.
- Fill in the form:
- Name, for example "Plan Design Library". Names must be unique in your company.
- Update path, which says where updates come from, such as a folder, a wiki or a shared drive. It is required.
- Cadence (optional), such as "quarterly" or "as-needed".
- Owner, the person responsible for keeping it current. If you are an administrator, search for a person under Search people…. Otherwise the field shows your own name and you become the owner.
- Human only, which means "People can read it, but Coworkers can never use it." Leave it cleared if Coworkers should be able to use the knowledge base.
- Select Add knowledge base. Select Cancel to close the form without saving.
When it is created, you land on the new knowledge base's page, ready to add documents.
Ownership#
The ability to create knowledge bases does not give you control over every knowledge base. You manage the ones you own, and ones where you were added as an editor. If you are the owner, you can add editors afterward. An administrator can reassign the knowledge base. See Editors and ownership.
