Human-only knowledge bases

Keep a knowledge base for people only, so Coworkers can never read or cite it.

For: Owners of a knowledge base, and administrators · Last updated

A human-only knowledge base can be read and searched by people but is never available to a Coworker. A Human only tag appears on its card and on its page, and its "Used by" line reads "For people only" on the list and "people only" on the page.

Who can change the setting#

Only the knowledge base's owner or an administrator can turn the setting on or off. Editors cannot, even though they can edit documents.

Make a knowledge base human only#

  1. Open the knowledge base and, in the Details card, select Make human only.
  2. A dialog titled "Make" followed by the knowledge base's name and "human only?" explains that Coworkers will never be able to use it, that people can still read it, and that you can allow Coworkers to use it again later.
  3. Select Make human only.

You can also choose Human only when you create the knowledge base.

The rule: a knowledge base that a Coworker already uses cannot be made human only. If you try, you are told to remove the knowledge base from the named Coworkers first, and the setting does not change.

Allow Coworkers to use it again#

  1. Select Allow Coworkers to use this again.
  2. In the confirmation, select Allow Coworkers to use this again. Coworkers can attach and read the knowledge base again.
